Day 1: Arrival Kilimanjaro Airport – Arusha
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport you will be welcomed by one of our experienced driver-guides who will take you to your to one of the top notch boutique hotel and take some time to acclimatize. The spacious rooms are nicely decorated with an African touch and the view from the infinity swimming pool is great.
Day 2: Makuyuni – Maasai village
In the morning we drive to an authentic Maasai Boma (village), located between Manyara National Park and Tarangire National Park. Discover today the culture, traditions and customs of Africa’s most famous tribal people, the colorful Maasai. A village chief will take you on a tour through the village and explain their beliefs and how they live in peace with the surrounding wildlife. Enjoy the dancing of young Maasai warriors in the evening, as well as a traditional BBQ. Spend the night in tents in the Maasai village.
Day 4: Ngorongoro Conservation Area – Serengeti
After an early breakfast we drive towards the Serengeti. Along the way we will pass villages and the scenic rainforest of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. This protected area covers more than 8,000 km2 (3,200 sq. miles) and is home to a wide range of animals. It consists of the famous Ngorongoro Crater, Ndutu, Olduvai Gorge (huge valley), Empakaai, Olmoti Crater and Oldonyo Lengai Mountain. Today we will only visit Olduvai Gorge, a steep ravine in the Great Rift Valley which is a nice setting for a picnic lunch. Olduvai Gorge is an important archaeological site since the earliest human skull and footprints in the world were discovered here. Dinner and overnight.
Day 5&6: Serengeti National Park
The next two days we will spend in Africa’s most famous national park, the Serengeti. Watch herds of elephants, splashing hippos in a pool, leopards sleeping in a tree or black rhinos hiding in thorny thickets. Although wildlife viewing in Serengeti National Park is good throughout the year, certain areas are better at specific times. Depending on where you are in the Serengeti at what time of the year, you may see thousands of wildebeest calves being born, spectacular river crossings or thousands of mammals moving in dusty columns across the plains. The Great Wildebeest Migration is a dynamic cycle of wild movement in and around the Serengeti through the year. Your guide knows roughly where the herds are at which time of the year and can take you to the right place, at the right time. To witness this spectacle of nature is truly an unsurpassed wildlife experience. Dinner and overnight.
Day 7: Ngorongoro Crater
After an early breakfast, we drive through the Serengeti towards the Ngorongoro Crater. Arriving at the crater rim you can enjoy the spectacular views into the crater floor before descending. This wildlife arena is truly a world within a world with its own unique ecosystem. It is home to the Big Five and the densest population predators found anywhere in Africa. The grounds of the crater floor house lions, hyenas, cheetahs and leopards, hippos, elephants, flamingos, ostriches, zebras and even the rare black rhino. It’s easy to spot animals in the Ngorongoro crater, since the crater floor is mainly flat. After an exciting day of game viewing we drive in the late afternoon to Ngorongoro Farm House for dinner and overnight.
Day 8: Arusha – Zanzibar
On your last day of safari on the mainland, we drive in 3-4 hours back to Arusha. On the way you can enjoy nature, wildlife and a glimpse of daily life in Tanzania as we passing small villages. Your driver transfers you to Arusha Airport for your flight to Zanzibar. Upon arrival at Zanzibar Airport, a shuttle from Matwemwe Beach Village Hotel will pick you up and deliver you to the hotel on the north-eastern coast of Zanzibar. This hotel is located right on the beach and is known for its excellent service and delicious food. There are many hotels to choose in Zanzibar this is just one of our samples
Day 9&13 – Zanzibar
The next 5 days at Matemwe Beach Village Hotel will be at leisure to relax or explore Zanzibar as you wish. Matemwe is the longest beach in Zanzibar and also one of the most beautiful. In contrary to many other beaches on the island Matwemwe is still very peaceful and quite. During low tide you will have to walk a while to get to the deeper water for a swim, during high tide Matemwe is the ideal beach and a real paradise for snorkelers, scuba divers and sunbathers. You can enjoy the sun while sipping cocktails or go on an activity, such as sailing, fishing, island hopping, dolphin or whale tour, visiting Stone Town, Prison Island or Jozani National Park. This can all be arranged at your hotel. On day 10 you will be treated to a private romantic candle light dinner on the beach after a beautiful sunset cruise on the Indian Ocean.
Today will be your last day on Zanzibar. Relax and spend the day at leisure before you will be transferred to the airport by the shuttle from the hotel. Have a pleasant flight!
